Tzaims Luksus Explaining Fashion.

 What is Fashion?

So you would buy from a fashion parasite like Bernard Arnault at his fake Dior and fake Louis Vuitton then from a  creative designer?  Shame on you!

You can look up the meaning easily.  It has many definitions but for this missile only that having to do with designing luxury goods supplies.

Luxury Goods?

Conglomerates like LVMH robe you blind but not bring able to see you hang on to these criminals and turn LVMH and Kering into billionaires whilst you condemn the creative designer to homelessness.

This term always amuses me since my surname being Luksus translated into many languages as Luxury.  That would mean everything I do is luxurious.  In business trade it simply refers to high quality materials and craftsmanship and rarity. wearing it having bought it.  Less expensive then magazine advertising.

How then is a printed simple cotton or synthetic tee shirt be a luxury product?  Well if the label and logo come from a high fashion designer house it can be.  Yet many of these tee shirts end up in thrift shops costing less than $1.00 USD.  No matter since unless really important thousands are made for advertising.  What better adveryising then someone wearingvit?   Cheaper than magazine advertising .

The Advent of Logo Tee Shirts

It was when Calvin Kline and Ralph (Lipshitz) Lauren started the trend.  Both were lower end production ready to wear designers that elevsted themselves at the time the hat designer of Bergdorf Goodman, Halston, went into designing clothes.

Their mental approach ended much of the higher echelon of haute couture and high end ready to wear in NYC.  Well changes in the late 1960s into the early 1970s shifted world trade and fashion in NYC and Paris got jumbled together.  Enter Italy.  Rome and Milan.

Haute Couture & High End Pret a Porter.

, Sounds French, well yes it is.  There is much confusion over this especially in Paris since Bernard Arnauld, a notorious French businessman began lusting over name brands.  Name brands were not high fashion labels but hot down graded by firms like Louis Vuitton, Hermees and Gucci, primary leather good and luggage companies.  Fancy luggage was sought after by the wealthy for world tours on ocean liners.  Many Louie Vuitton trunks went down with the Titanic.

In later decades these luggage companies added printed silk scarves and hand bags.  Together they made a nice display, a silk scarf wrapped around a ladies bag in a window display,  Later these leather companies hired fashion stylists to create clothing designs the company would manufacturevas Prey's Port, "Carry out" with high priced.  Not exactly  fashion but imitating fashion

Today not only have they competed but have risen higher than high fashion and claim to produce luxury goods but demand an volume so great they manufactured this enmass in China but hold stock in inventory to limit sales which they raise to astronomical prices.  All massed produced but kept rare in secret.

This method of merchandizing had broughtbdown haute couture, that is: custom one of a kind.

Now a Saudi Arabian Princess gets fitted for a wedding dress studded with diamonds costing as much as $1.Million USD.  But does she buybit or just borrow it for one day?  More likely borrow but the publicity over it makes it worthy for a museum to have it and instead of sellingbit the countries sells thousands of printed logo tee shirts to the general public.  Selling price today, a Dior tee shirts is $150.00 each. Suppose one million are sold by LVMH in one year.  They pay the rent for luxury real estate flagship stores and packaging.

Nothing wrong in this.  It is genius marketing and practical since everyone shares init. In Asia acfine cotton tea shirt costs about $2.00 or less, down to $0.50 if ordered in mass quantities.  Printing a logo can cost $0.10 to $1.00 depending if screen printedvor digitally printed. And size of print alters price.  Easy enough to give away to anyone on the street as part of an advertising campaign or pay fill price, a polo shirt descretly logo printed, look fine on a billionaires yacht party.  Everyone assumes you paid full price and invite you into their private slub society.  All very legit and proper.

Ladies carry a Birkin Hermes hand bag for the same reason or.tie a Hermes scarf around their neck over a logo tee shirt.  That is fashion.  Next day it is fashionally over.

Next day the lady sell it to a vintage shop, still almost new and some wealthy  lady buys it who doesn't,'t want to pay full price.

Balm Beach Island Florida has several vintage shops with brand new clothes women buy but never wear.  The club label in Palm Beach is Chanel.  Certain women won't be seen not wearing Chanel.

I was in one one day.  A rather elder and not very beautiful woman found a whiney silver jacket very Chanel looking.  Oh!  She had to have it.  It is so beautiful she said.  Only $100.00.  Going to pay she saw the label.  Vera Wang.  She threw it down.  No way would she touch it again and stormed out.  I had a great laugh.  Wouldn't you?

Fashion Design

Getting to the point.  A fashion designer does just that.  He creates a sketch on paper of an object and his job is done.  He doesn't make anything.  He creates a new idea of a thing. If he has connections he can pass that sketch on to someone, a craftsman, or jobber who makes a model then that model is passed to someone who manufactures it and it goes back to the jobber that adds a label.

A fashion designer doesn't need to make anything to keep designing.  He can sell his designs or keep them hidden.  He might not want anyone copying them.  If in need of money he sells them for a fraction of what they end up costing.  In the long run selling them cheap if in quantity he probably makes more then the retailor.

Today a controversy hit the fashion world over a Hermes Birkin hand bag retailing for $38,000.00 USD.In China using materials provided by Hermes it cost $1,400.00 USD.  Even the gold, if real solid gold, only coast $25.00 USD.  How can it sell for $38,000.00 when mass produced.  Maybe if only one made to order, but thousands of the same bag?  Get real people.  That bag is a joke or a wolf in sheep's clothing. Or no.  The $1,400.00 bag would still retail for $2,800.00 so you knowvyou are buying the brand name of Hermes, but is that mystique worth $32,200.00 USD? "Madeline in China"

So now you know.  Go for It!

🤢

To be continued. Maybe.
