Tzaims found the estate one early misty morning with a for sale sign nailed to a tree.  He was traveling through Vermont to New Hampshire on a 1963 Labor day weekend.  It struck his soul since he had a recurring dream when a child of this very property.  Dark gabled mansion, long circular drive, old trees and him burning leaves in the gravel drive on Halloween afternoon.  Same dream over and over.
 ●
He immediately called the number and lease/purchased the mansion that same weekend and moved in on 1 October 1963, burning leaves on the gravel drive on Halloween.
It turned out that his mother's great aunt's youngest son, her cousin, built it in 1901.

In 1963 Tzaims heard that antique tracker church organs were being broken up with sledge hammers, removed and replaced by electronic organs, and were offered free to anyone willing to move it out of the church.
●
Tzaims wanted one built before 1850 suitable to play Bach and Handel and found this Stevens Tracker.  He got two trucks and took his fabric mill hands to move it and lift it in peices, all unscrewed and unpegged, through an attic window where he reessembled it himself one Labor day weekend, refinished and restored it as seen today.

  1. The pictures and the story behind them are great to read. The mansion in its heyday was amazing. What happened to the antique lights? Where the Mercedes-Benz currently resides nothing is there.

  2. I had the honor and pleasure of meeting you as you tended to thr gates of your mansion. Must have been shortly before you left for Myanmar. Your life is fascinating and your home is beautiful even in it's ramshackle state. Love to see the inside one day as I am a great collector of books and art. Should I ever find myself in Rangoon I will certainly patronize your men's boutique. I hope my photography of your mansion did not lead to the lootings and intrusions that occurred.
